Lifestyle Medicine

Health is shaped by what happens between appointments

Improving your health isn't always about learning something new. Often, it's about finding realistic ways to put that knowledge into practice.

Lifestyle Medicine focuses on the everyday habits that shape long-term health, from nutrition and movement to sleep, stress and social connection. Rather than expecting you to change everything at once, we'll look at what's realistic, what's getting in the way and where to start.

The goal is not perfection. It's finding an approach that works for your life and building from there.

What is Lifestyle Medicine?

Lifestyle Medicine is an evidence-based medical approach that focuses on the everyday factors that influence long-term health and wellbeing.

These areas are often referred to as the pillars of Lifestyle Medicine and include:

  • Nutrition

  • Physical activity

  • Restorative sleep

  • Stress management

  • Social connection

  • Avoiding risky substances

These factors can have a significant impact on both how you feel now and your health in the years ahead, playing an important role in disease prevention, chronic disease management and healthy aging.

Who is Lifestyle Medicine for?

Lifestyle Medicine can benefit women at any stage of life wanting to better understand how their everyday habits may be influencing their health now and in the future.

Sleep, movement, nutrition, stress and social connection all matter. They influence how we feel today and can have a significant impact on our health in the years ahead.

Lifestyle Medicine practices and coaching can help in disease reversal, prevention and recurrence reduction including type 2 diabetes, cancers, cerebrovascular disease, cardiovascular disease and other conditions. It works alongside conventional medicine to reduce risk disease burden and reduce medication need (if possible).

Common symptoms Lifestyle Medicine can help address

Lifestyle factors can affect health in ways that are sometimes obvious and sometimes surprisingly subtle.

You might be experiencing:

  • Low energy or fatigue

  • Poor or non-restorative sleep

  • Ongoing stress or burnout

  • Difficulty maintaining healthy habits

  • Weight concerns

  • Reduced physical activity

  • Feeling disconnected from your health goals

  • Challenges managing a chronic condition

  • A sense that something needs to change, but not knowing where to start

Often, it isn't a lack of knowledge that's the problem. It's finding an approach that feels realistic and sustainable in the context of everyday life.

When should you seek support?

Lifestyle Medicine isn't only for managing health concerns. It can also help you support your health before problems arise.

It may be helpful if:

  • You want to improve your long-term health

  • You're struggling with sleep, stress or energy levels

  • You want support making sustainable lifestyle changes

  • You're managing a chronic health condition

  • You're navigating menopause, perimenopause or other hormonal changes

  • You've tried making changes before but found them difficult to maintain

Often, the hardest part is knowing where to start. That's something we can work through together.

My approach to Lifestyle Medicine

My approach starts with understanding where you are now.

Rather than focusing on everything that needs to change, I look at what feels realistic for you and what may be getting in the way.

Together, we'll explore areas such as nutrition, movement, sleep, stress management and social connection, while considering your health history, lifestyle and personal goals.

I often describe this as meeting people where they are.

There is little value in creating a perfect plan that doesn't fit your life. The goal is to build something practical, achievable and sustainable.

There Are Options Available To You

The plan we create should reflect where you are now, not where you think you should be.

Depending on your circumstances, support may include:

What makes this care different?

Whole-Person Approach

Rather than focusing on a single symptom, we explore the areas of your life that influence health, including nutrition, sleep, movement, stress, relationships and social connection.

This helps us identify where change is likely to have the greatest impact.

A personalised lifestyle prescription

You'll leave with a written plan tailored to your goals, health concerns and readiness for change.

This may include specific recommendations around nutrition, physical activity, sleep, stress management or other lifestyle factors relevant to you.

Behaviour change support

Knowing what to do is rarely the hardest part.

Drawing on health coaching and behaviour change principles, I help you identify barriers, build sustainable habits and make changes that feel realistic in everyday life.

Time to do it properly

Lifestyle Medicine can take time.

My initial consultations are up to one hour, allowing us to explore the factors affecting your health in depth and develop a personalised plan, rather than trying to fit everything into a rushed appointment.

What to expect

Before your appointment

Before we meet, I'll ask you to provide information about your health history, lifestyle and current concerns.

During your consultation

We'll talk about your health, daily routines, goals and any barriers that may be making change difficult.

This is not about judgement or perfection. It's about understanding where you are now and identifying what feels realistic moving forward.

After your appointment

You'll receive a summary of our discussion along with practical recommendations and agreed next steps.

Follow-up consultations provide an opportunity to review progress, adjust the plan where needed and continue building sustainable habits over time.
